Stop WhatsApp Status Timer

This is the new feature of WhatsApp. When you view someone’s status on WhatsApp, you’ll need to hold the status using your finger otherwise it switches to another status automatically after a second. Well, this feature will let WhatsApp users stop the status timer and will not switch to another status automatically. To do that, you just need to tap your 3-finger on the status while it’s opened. Voila! Now you can remove your fingers and the status will remain unchanged. However, if you tap the finger again it will start the timer again.

WhatsApp Disappearing Messages Feature

WhatsApp rolling out the new disappearing messages feature to all its users. If you turn this feature on, it sets the time limit after that the messages will get disappeared from chats automatically. The same feature is offered by Snapchat, Telegram, Wire, and many other chatting apps. While other apps let you change the disappearing timer after which the messages will get deleted, WhatsApp has a fixed amount of time, WhatsApp set the limit to 7-days only. This means the messages from WhatsApp chats will get disappear after 7-days, if you’ve switched the WhatsApp disappearing feature on. To know more, read all the FAQs.

How to turn disappearing messages on:

  1. Open WhatsApp
  2. Choose a chat
  3. Tap Disappearing messages
  4. Tap Continue
  5. Then select on to turn on the feature.

How to turn disappearing messages off:

  1. Open WhatsApp
  2. Choose a chat
  3. Tap Disappearing messages
  4. Tap Continue
  5. Then select off to turn off the feature.

Always Mute a Person

This is another new useful WhatsApp feature you can use right now. In the case, when someone sends a lot of disturbing messages while you’re in an important meeting or might be another reason, this feature gives an option to mute that person on WhatsApp and you’ll not able to hear any messages notification sent by that person.

Earlier, WhatsApp has three choices of time limit to mute a person: 8 hours, one week, and one year. But, now WhatsApp user will get an option to mute a person for always instead of 1-year while the rest of the two other options are the same.

Here’s how to mute a person on WhatsApp:

  1. Open WhatsApp (duh!)
  2. Select the person or group
  3. Tap on Mute icon
  4. Choose “Always

How to unmute a person on WhatsApp:

  1. Open WhatsApp
  2. Select the muted person or group
  3. Tap on Unmute icon

WhatsApp UPI Payment

WhatsApp finally started rolling out the UPI payment system in India which was under testing since the year 2018. National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) officially announces that it had granted approval to WhatsApp to roll out UPI-powered payments in the country. In a few weeks or starting January 2021, WhatsApp will provide the UPI payment update to all Indian users. Since there are more than 200 million people use WhatsApp on daily basis, new WhatsApp UPI feature is expecting to become the most popular UPI service in india.

You’ll get this UPI option within a chat by clicking on the media icon. Through WhatsApp UPI you can send or receive money with your friends within the chatting area.

Inbuilt Fingerprint Lock

This is another security feature you get in WhatsApp after the two-step verification feature. WhatsApp has added a new biometric security feature which requires user fingerprint authentication to access the WhatsApp account. A user can easily configure his/her fingerprint in WhatsApp and enable a fingerprint lock.

How to enable fingerprint lock in WhatsApp:

  1. Open WhatsApp
  2. Tap 3-dot menu and go to Settings
  3. Select Account
  4. Then tap Privacy
  5. And scroll down and tap Fingerprint Lock
  6. Turn on unlock with fingerprint
  7. Touch your finger on the fingerprint sensor and configure it

How to disable fingerprint lock in WhatsApp:

  1. Open WhatsApp
  2. Tap 3-dot menu and go to Settings
  3. Select Account
  4. Then tap Privacy
  5. Turn off Unlock with fingerprint

Note: The fingerprint option available to only Android 6.0 or above versions which supports Google fingerprint API.
